Greetings Friends!

We're thrilled to let you know that a great video has been posted to YouTube showing the Alchemical Fire Circle, with voiceover by Jeff McBride explaining how the dancing is analogous to the orbits of the planets.

If you've been wondering about what we'll be doing at Fires Rising at Four Quarters Farm in a few weeks, take a look at this, and then pass the word! The video is from a documentary produced by Vision TV about Jeff's magic profession and his work with alchemical fire circle with Abbi. You'll see many familiar faces here.... We hope you will enjoy and want to put out huge thanks to the Four Quarters office guy Micheal for putting this together!

www.youtube.com/watch

Please, tell your friends about it! If any of you have a YouTube account, we'd appreciate you linking/favoriting it.

Once you've seen the video, you can go to www.4qf.org/_FiresRising/index.htm
and register online for an incredible and magickal gathering!

We hope to see you there!

Yours in Fire,
Spinner & Jeff McBride

      i love it.

      great tribal video.

looks like fun! wish i was there!

but what does this have to do with the royal art of Alchemy and the Great Work?

      pop-alchemy? pop-occultism? pop-pop?

do people walk away with a REAL LONG LASTING uplifted vibration/transmutation or do they walk away feeling great about being together and dancing?

      two different things.

seems like it just uses the word "alchemy" to promote the gathering kinda like that online game called alchemy that uses the zodiacal symbols.

(great game by the way... but not really alchemical...)

I have attended these fire circles, and let me first say that, yes - people do acheive a "real long lasting" transformation.

Secondly, it's not just marketing hype.

Their model is actively alchemical, using and communicating alchemical themes and practice in music, dance, present participation, learning, self sufficiency and not a little magic.

It seesm to me that using an alchemical scaffolding to enable change is at the heart of the great work.

This has been a work of 20 years or more.
It's not pandering to any fad, and "pop" doesn't apply.
This stuff is not even remotely mainstream.

Although, due in large part to the people you see in that video having put effort into these kinds of experiments, variations of these circles are occurring all across the world, all around the year.

That is certianly a few steps closer to gold.

Wonderful to know people achieve a real and lasting upliftment of their vibration and that it's been evolving for such a long time. I wish they had these in Chicago.

Could you break down the "alchemical scaffolding" and "alchemical themes" and show us the technology behind uplifiting people's vibration permanently without using the word "alchemical" though? I know it could be a challenge... kinda like trying to define a word without using it.

I'm just wanting to stimulate some real conversation around the idea and prove what you say to be true by examining the logical structure behind it the "Alchemical Fire Circle" tech. If it's good tech, I may be prompted to start one here myself in Chicago. Fire circles are one thing... real and concrete change in participants is quite another and preferred.

I can read works by Frater Albertus and other alchemists and understand the actual formulas behind the tech. What I'd like to see is the formula behind this tech; where real separation, purification, and cohobation occur.

There's a lot to learn and the mysteries are really only passed through experience.
There are fires all over the world connected to this emergent tradition. Not sure which will be closest to Chicago -- probably one of the ForestDances.

This is absolutely worth flying for -- many of us fly all over the place following the fire, and attendees hail from many continents.

Some members of our tribe, the ones featured in the video, have been working on some documents you might find interesting and helpful. Their Resourcery is posted here: www.4qf.org/_FiresRising/_res_index.htm

Try the links to the right on this page to read about how the different elements fit into the framework.
These documents offer some perspectives and a starting point for exploring this practice.

Not all of the fire circles in the broader fire circle family use an overt alchemical nomenclature or ceremonial framework, however I affirm that all of the circles embody what I would call real world, practical and experiential, alchemy. Not all of these circles would agree with the contents of these articles, either, so keep in mind that all the circles have their own flavor, their own customs, their own interpretations.

The basic practices and methods for engagement are relatively consistent, and all the circles cross-pollinate to some degree.

You might also enjoy the Sacred All Night Fire Circle tribe -- it's in my tribe list. This is a forum where all the all-night fire circle groups and events can share space.

            Hello Yahazim and everybody,

I'm going to reiterate what Professora Liz wrote.... There is a definite culture of Firecircle (I use it as one word, capitalized) that is distinct from just any fire circle or bonfire or drum circle or whatever else. I'm not a classical Aclchemist, but I will try to contribute to this thread.

I would say the first things are setting the parameters, both Intent, and Boundaries. This is creating the vessel. The entire structure is metaphorical, and that metaphor can be rather surprisingly illuminative. Every emotional, psycic and energetic state that one may care to embody during the Firecircle process has an Alchemical countenance, at least as far as I have experienced. In this way, the Great Work is moving through a Great Metaphor.

As for permanent change, for what are you really asking? What is truly permanent? Even the stars in Heaven are temporal, and fade away in their own time. For us mere mortals, is it not enough to experience a Transformation that has substantial and visceral impact, and is a further step along our path? I would not say the Firecircle experience is "permanent" when measured in the same scale as the universe, but indeed can be "permanent", and a lasting change in the scale of one's own lifetime.

That being said, the processes of Conjunctio, Negrido, Rubio, etc. are quite palpable within the Great Work of the Great Metaphor. These steps, as psyco-spiritual processes, will be present even if the Great Metaphor is understated, or unrecognized. It is through a more deliberate decision to emphasize the Great Metaphor that the narrative unfolds more or less plainly to an observation.

For myself, I should say I am an Instigator of a Firecircle, one that is about to take place in a rural part of Czech Republic. For our nascent little group, the whole concept of Alchemy and the details of the Great Metaphor are not placed in great emphasis, yet. The process, and the quality of the comunity around the Firecircle, are open to whatever the participants bring in, and in this way the Vessel remains also a Melting Pot. We have language issues that are quite different than one finds elsewhere, for starters, so front-loading the Firecircle experience with a lot of theoretical or explained information is just too much.

The workings, however one wants to name them, remain and the process continues. The technology resides in aspects such as willful engagement, conscious music making, close observation and mutual support, maintenance of a clean Vessel, and a few unpredictable catalists mixed in.

I hope that's of some help,
            Ciao,
            Bilhelm

I'd like to reply directly to Yahazim's inquiry as to the "alchemical scaffold" of the Firecircle.
The model that Jeff and Abby work with is drawn directly from the Magickal arts of the Western Mysteries- from the Rosecrucians to the Celts. They are Alchemists in the highest sense of inner-personal, transformative work. All the traditional Alchemical terminology and methods are present at the Alchemical Firecircle. And on the same note, Jeff and Abby are just wise enough to not let the "Kablahblah" get in the way.

To "break down" the alchemical workings of the Alchemical Firecircle here would be a disservice to it. It is an experience and a process, not a scientific formula to be replicated and rubber-stamped. Each Firecicle formula is different due to differences in the organizers spiritual backgrounds, and each Firecircle is different due to the different constellation of people attending. Not every Firecircle is Alchemical in the technical, traditional sense- but I would say that every Firecircle (the kind that deserves a capital F) is alchemical in the general, universal sense. Alchemy is both a specific traditional spiritual path, as well as a pervasive, all-encompassing process found throughout Nature.

Most here are probably familiar with the fact that a majority of traditional Alchemical lore was written down, not in words and doctrine, but in art and symbolism. So it is with the Firecircle. The true inner mysteries come through the process of actually engaging in it and feeling the essence of it- not by reading it to "prove" its alchemical nature. Strange and powerful things happen 'round yon Firecircle- things that I can only imagine happening around one, or around some other sort of trance-formative ceremony of Magickal nature.

So I would say, you want to see the proof that the Alchemical Firecircle is truely Alchemical? Go to FiresRising.
Want to start an Alchemical Firecircle of your own? You'll not get even close if you've not been initiated.

I can say I walked away changed in a long lasting way. I went for my first time last year and I read all of the materials that were posted on the site. I had a basic understanding but until I experienced it and the process that I went through each night. I only knew a few people and so I wasn't there to just dance around. I honestly was there to work on myself in a way I had not ever done before and so in that I have learned a strong tool and a process not only for the nights I went through everything but also in my daily life. There are many memories to I carried with me that night that I will not forget. I think even if you went thinking superficially you would leave having experienced something a lot deeper than you probably expected.

In the Alchemical format that I was learning during that weekend, I felt that Jeff and Spinner had it down. The prep materials were helpful in showing me what I was going to go through and I felt immediately that this was going to be intense. For me it definitely was. I felt like alot of people were there to work because of the amount of them in the workshops during the day. We were tired and worn out but we still went up and learned, grew together and moved forward. I saw people breaking things down and figuring their stuff out through the process and to me that says a lot.

My suggestion would be that you should come out and experience it first hand so you understand better. The promotional probably does not do the complete experience justice. Yes, I was a newbie to this last year but I walked away knowing much more about myself and will keep the magic I experienced with me for a life time. I would not go back to something that didn't do this for me.

        Blessings.

If I can interject once again, I think our practice of Firecircle is a healthy cure for "armchair alchemy."

I think of armchair alchemy as that practice which is entirely in the head, cycled in the mind while studying or contemplating the Work. Yes this is valuable, but for the Artifex cannot be the only dimension. The practice we Work and Play with is said by some to be a,

"techno-tribal, positively primal, shamanic and artistic archaic revival"

We bundle all the very old technologies. The power of the vigil is there. We go all night, every night, several nights in a row. Usually from three to seven nights of fire, night after night. During the day there may be some sleep, although others choose to remain in wakefulness. Some may choose silence for a time, or an hour, or the length of the event. Some may choose exhuberant expression.

Just the act of the Vigil, or some would refer to it as Ordeal, is a transformative and instructive process.

We all have our layers of BS, and being in continual engagement for so many hours under the marathon conditions and sleep deprivation, one can finally run out of it. Come to the end of yourself. No more strength, no more brilliant ideas, no more inspirations to share, no more facades. Eventually you hit the wall -- if not at your first Firecircle gathering, eventually you'll hit it.

Finding the wall, finding despair . . . breathing in the darkest hour of night and the valley of the shadow of death.

And then at some point, an inspiration or a release or a mystical encounter with the Ultimate can carry you through the wall, through the bottom of death, and into a rebirthing.

We work with timelessness, and we work with the tools of the ancient masters.

Half of my clothes are permanantly embedded with smoke from the Work. :)

If I didn't say it in this tribe already: the video is a sign, pointing to an experience. It was a made for TV enactment. The Tao that can be YouTubed is not the Tao.

You are invited to come taste, come experience. If not at Fires Rising, then one of the many sister events happening around the world. There are at least 30 nights of fire burning each year in different places. Many of us travel from one to one to one.
