This turned out to be a hot topic on my cyber-lodge group.

A friend and new associate over at our yahoo egroup FutureThelema brought up the notion of a magick motto. I realize that I have never had one, actually.

Do any others here use a magick motto? Would you like to share?
My friend said that one ought to realize the power of a magickal motto and
be sure what one wishes to use, because there is power in it. Do any of
your feel this is true? Is a magick motto something one could share with
other members of magick groups, cyber lodges such as this?

Any thoughts and comments would be helpful.

I remembered later, after I posted this in another group, that I had used a past motto used as sig: Cuetlachtonameyoa ~Wolf that Shimmers~ "I am the flame that burns in every heart of man, and in the core of every star."

ain't that the truth, just when you think you got it down, oops, someone or something comes along to knock down your house of cards.

My OTO motto is "Per Ardua Ad Astra," meaning "through struggle to the stars". Lately though I have been calling myself simply Adastra, shorter, easier to remember, etc. I also like to use "The Wizzard of Jacksonville", since I am a Wizzard, I live in Jacksonville and no one else seems to have claimed the title first. So I look at it as filling a vacant chair.

From the spelling of Wizzard, I hope people will understand that I am not taking myself too seriously, of course. The title is modeled on "The Wizard of Oz", of course, and the spelling is ripped off from Terry Pratchetts's amazingly entertaining novels set on the Diskworld. Just remember that the first "wizard" was a fraud and the second was a real wizard, but so inept that he couldn't even spell the world correctiy. Keep that in mind and you should have a pretty good idea of who I am and how seriously I take myself.

          Here's love to all.

          With love under will,

          Bob, aka Adastra,
          The Wizzard of Jacksonville
