I'm a newcomer, so I just wanted to say, "Hello!" and provide a bit of background. I am a mean, ugly old man, living in Jacksonville, FL. My previous spiritual path has included a somewhat esoteric approach to Christianity and free-lance Bible study, membership in O.T.O. (currently on inactive status), a life-long fascination with mythology, comparatve religion, chaos magick, shamanism, and inner alchemy.

I'm a bit skeptical about practical alchemy, but not rigid on the subject. I have recently been told that I should pursue alchemical studies much more seriously and am here seeking aid in that endeavor. The triggering event was that I recently taught a class at the local OTO body on "Magickal Formulae". As I was explaining the meaning of the V.I.T.R.I.O.L. to the class, it came to me suddenly that all magickal formulae are essentially alchemical and that all such formulae described the same process, in two stages with Solve et coagula, in three steps with I.A.O., seven steps with VITRIOL and twelve steps with the zodiacal attributions. There's really no difference except in the level of abstraction and the degree of focus on the details of the operation.

I will try not to be a bother, but I seek to find answers to some of my questions and to discuss what I have learned and what I have yet to learn.
